Just Cause 2, Who owns it ?

Got it a few months ago, played it for a few hours and was very impressed. Looks great, fun to play, lots of stuff to blow up. Just seemed that after a few weeks I couldn't really be bothered to go back and play it. Not a conscious thing, but I would just always seem to prefer to fire up another game instead. Really must make the effort and actually get into the game properly - it's a really good game but we just haven't "clicked" yet. :)

Seeing the same set piece explosion over and over got boring very quickly.

The controls were horrific.

It wassn't difficult at all and required zero skill (cue auto headshots)

The upgrade system was laughable and didn't affect anything.

Capturing towns was very mundane, big map, little variety. I didn't get on well with this game at all. :p

It does look very nice though. I'll give it that but that's all it is, pretty.

THere are downsides, had they put maybe 3 minutes more thought into the story it could have been far far better and less cheesy and irritating.

Its a big map and partially as LeJosh said its samey, even though theres actually a lot of locations, mostly because its the same thing in each location and because the game is so verticle and you don't run through towns and airports and compound A, B and C, from above the layout of the base and how it looks from the ground has almost no effect on gameplay.

In other FPS's a wide open airport heavily manned would have a very different feel to a dense town area, but a lot of that dissappears when you're floating over the top launching rockets at everyone.

Autolock, could have done without it, would have sucked on consoles without it due to the type of game it was.

Sometimes I think its brilliant, sometimes I think its a lazy pile of tripe in terms of gameplay.

Engine though is just fantastic, quick travel to other side of the map, instant basically, runs fast with all settings on high, looks pretty damn good. I've never seen a game so big, with a map so vast load so quickly, frankly you rarely see a tiny game with a tiny map load so fast :p

I’ve got it, looks great, runs great. I had tremendous fun running around blowing things up – big things too like cranes and space stations. It’s basically a beautiful explosion simulator – and if you listen, Rico comes out with some classic one-liners from time to time. I spent over a hundred hours on it and am only around 90% completion. First game I ever bought DLC for, it was cheap and fun. LOADS of content and great fun grappling cop cars to your tank, your car to planes taking off etc.

Only thing I missed was not having music in the car like GTA but, meh.
Check out some of the Youtube videos for creative mayhem.

Another 4 hours on this last night...

I think I'm going to get some kind of ammo mod for it though, as I find myself running out so quickly, and I can't cause as much chaos without any ammo! I'm then finding I'm just looking around for ammo.

Looks absolutely fantastic, and runs brilliantly :)

Great game, highly recommended.

And even if you get bored of it after a while, I'll bet you anything that by then you'll have pumped dozens and dozens of hours into it. That's a lot of money's worth!
More than most other games'.

People complain about the story. These people are missing the point of the game. It's about blowing stuff up and generally being a destructive a...hole. I bet they just stuck a quick story on so that people wouldn't complain about the complete lack of one. Completely secondary, though, just go forth and destroy. That's what it's all about.

Apart from going down to about 45fps for no apparent reason other than turning the camera slightly (if I'm standing still and getting 60fps), it's awesome. I completed it before Christmas and was going to try and 100% it, but other games got in the way and so haven't played it since. I think I got it for free, too (at least according to what Steam says under my game licences/keys or whatever list), as I don't remember buying it.

Just completed the agengy missions/main game this morning and have quite enjoyed it. I had gotten a bit bored of it so yesterday I downloaded a few mods to unlock all the weapons, give unlimited ammo and extend the range of the grappling hook. Now it takes a miute or so max to get anywhere and I'm not constantly looking for ammo.

I would recommend it, especially if it comes up for £5 again. It kind of gave me the feeling that I was playing a game version of the movie Crank as it was so over the top.
