Just dropped a deposit on some M Power - Trackday Project Car

Found in the service history that in March 2013 it had its allignment done, settings are:-
Front camber = -1.75
front toe = neutral
Rear camber = -1.50
Rear toe = 28 minutes toe in across the axle.

See how goes on track, if I need more camber turnersport top mounts go upto -4 and can get new rear lower arms to get more negative rear camber upto around -3 :)

Not too bad, bit low on rear camber, probably related to the ride height though. Camber curve is quite severe in the rear like all BMs.
Not a bad starting point, only criticism would be the rear toe, thats an awful lot. I've experimented with this a lot and found that 15mins is good, over 25mins makes the rear a bit nervous on the limit and can tend to suddenly go from grip to slip. FWIW CSL spec is only 4mins.

Can't have too much front camber, best mine ever drove was with -3.25, just immense confidence in the front end. Sucks balls for shoulder wear on the daily commute though so now limit it to -2. Shouldn't really need more than -2 rear.

What day is the trackday then? I might throw the lid in the car and pop over, especially if it's wet :p

Next Sunday. If it's wet I might be a wimp and go in the 911 as it's far better in the wet, way more traction. Infact scrap that I can have way more fun at half the speed in the wet in the M3. :D

I'm sure it'll be great on track but can't help but think that it might have been better to get something properly track-focused? I guess a stripped out and fully bushed M3 is still fairly track focused.

I pretty much went with the M3 because of all the track days I've done the fastest cars I've come across is stuff like Radicals, stripped GT3's, Porsche CUP cars and stripped out M3's and well out of those the M3 is the affordable one with parts easily available.

Thought of converting the 911 came to mind but it's worth to much to turn into a track car, so I've got the M3. :)

Let me know when you are going to the Ring next year.

Westfield?

I want track car in the future and assumed that something like a Westy would off the best value.

More than I paid for the M3 for a decent one and I'd not want to drive to Spa or the Ring in such a car.

Plus the M3 I can also have fun drifting in too, it kind of ticks all the boxes. :)

Whats the deal with airbag removal and airbag dash lights? Is the car displaying a fault on the dash?

Yes was when I got it as the seat airbags no longer present.

To get rid of the light with airbags removed I need to remove the airbag module.

Right now I have the following airbags left in the car:-
1. Drivers airbag
2. Front curtain airbags.

I shall remove the above if I can, if not then I shall leave as is. But if I get the above out then I can remove the airbag module/computer at which point clear the light on the dash without issue. Not fussed, my dash has airbag and brake light warnings (brake sensors not connected) so the lights don't bother me.

I'd remove the module even if you leave the other airbags in the car, brake sensor light isn't a problem, my car has that lit for the past 2 years :p

But the airbag light will prevent the car from getting an MOT?
