Yes I know most of us have played it, completed it several times etc but I just felt I needed to get into something in a long period off work....but this time back to back, with mods and all DLC, and this time on a PC that can run 1440p at 120fps constant maxed out.

Had 3 weeks to invest in this, had originally completed ME1 4 or 5 times on both xbox 360 and then on PC, ME 2 did twice and ME 3 did once. Never done them back to back so close though. What an incredible trilogy, easily the best game of all time, was back then still is today. I say game, it's not really a game is it, it's art...a masterpiece, a true gaming experience that I don't think will ever be done so well again. You get completely emotionally involved in the characters, the story, you cry, laugh, yell and cheer, even playing it again from start to finish, none of the gloss is lost and for me I still get lumps in my throat even though I know what's coming. So compelling, so rewarding, just an incredible series of games from start to finish.

I'm not sure how to feel about Andromeda without Sheppard yet, only time will tell I guess, but for the Trilogy, it just blows me away each time. If you can guys, u have a little time to spare, try and do all 3 games back to back with all DLC and mods, Incredible gaming experience each time.

I tried to play through the first one again (did it on Xbox 360 when it came out) with the intention of finally getting around to playing the whole trilogy and just found it so... dull.

I am sure the mechanics improve in the later games, but I have barely progressed in the story and already stopped playing. *sigh* Something about the pace, and the clunkiness.

I really should try again...

Playing the Mass Effect trilogy a few years ago was one of the highlights of my gaming life.

The only negative of the series for me was the opening 3 hours of part one, where you are running around the Citadel.

Well I didn't get so emotional about it, but I definitely love it. I kinda enjoyed the story more in the first one, when I didn't know so much about everything. Had this sense of wonder and awe with what the Reapers were and I felt it was diminished somewhat once we learned about them and discovered that while threatening, they weren't these all-powerful entities that it seemed like they'd be. Story was pretty good overall by video game standards, though. Characters were done well and there was enough time-off aspects to develop them and present them in a way that pure shooters can rarely ever do.

I also thought the combat was a load of fun. Wasn't necessarily ultra deep or anything, but it was this cool mix of third person shooter, with Jedi Force powers and tactical elements with your teammates.

The atmosphere and settings were the best part for me. Definitely right up my alley as a big space sci-fi fan.

Cant wait for the new one. My biggest wish is that they bring back a better sense of exploration. They were onto something in ME1 with the Mako, but they sadly scrapped it for the sequels instead of improving on that aspect of the game. Seems like the Mako is back so hopefully they've figured out a way to make it really worthwhile and enjoyable this time.

This sounds like something I could do over the summer holidays this year from Uni in preparation for Andromeda.

I haven't played these games in absolute years, was never a HUGE fan of number 3 however. Bloody loved the first 2 though.

yeah, as the series progressed it lost the sense of exploration and some stand out RPG elements for me. ME1 was and still is my favourite by far, just loved the exploration of planets and the landing on them. Soundtracks were totally epic in ME1 as well, that opening intro music does it for me every time. I'm just totally in love with the whole series though, EA did ruin the feel and sense of exploration in ME2 and ME3 though, but that being said they were still brilliant games.

I just wish there was a way to get all the DLC (or complete editions) for a reasonable price. I'd love to do a complete playthrough with all the DLC.

The DLC uses 'bioware points' which have never been discounted on PC.

Graphic packs, high res textures etc. Got me1 looking so good, few examples of the high res mods.

ME1 is awesome. Yeah, it's a bit clunky in movement/combat and the intial part in the Citadel is long winded, but everything else is brilliant.
I still love it when you first meet Sovereign - "You exist because we allow it, and you will end because we demand it".

ME2 is still my favourite, in all honesty though. I've always been about the characters in games like this, and I this just delivers in spades. Mordin, Thane, Miranda, Wrex, Jack...exceptionally well voiced and delivered. I loved every minute of ME2, just the pinnacle of gaming for me.

And is this not one of the greatest trailers ever? That track, Martin Sheen's voiceover.... properly epic.

ME3 was more of a letdown, but it was all worth it just to play "The Citadel" DLC. Anyone who doesn't get a little bit emotional when the final "We had a good run, didn't we?" line is delivered is some kind of emotional monster :(

The games seemed to move further from RPG to action shooter with every release. I can see why they did it, I found the first one to be a bit too stats and ability heavy, 2 had it about right and 3 was a bit too far the other way. Great games and great series though!

That's what made it so involving at immersive mate, all the choices, weapon types, ammo, modules etc. Ea got involved and gradually put their "must kill this game next" stamp on it.

I actually complete this same feat over the summer, and found playing through ME1 and ME2 one of my best gaming experiences of recent years. I had played them both previously to completion a couple of times each but never back to back. I had never played ME3 at all in the two years I owned it, and was pumped when the time came to move on to it after ME2.

Worst gaming mistake I've ever made. After the excitement of the first two, I was left with a glorified eavesdropping simulator crossed with a nonsensical script that stretched incredulity to new levels. I knew that the internet hipsters had long declared ME3 a stinker, but it really took me to play it to understand the depth of that sentiment.

Anyway, I am glad that OP enjoyed the entire trilogy but just wanted to share my own experience as it was fresh in my memory.

2 and 3 weren't much different in terms of the balance between RPG and action.

One of my favorite video game epic. Don't really care that much about the gameplay and such, but rather appreciate the characters, dialogues, stories... I always come back to replaying ME1, ME2, or even ME3.

But the Citadel DLC, man. I agree though. :)

ME1 was also quite stuttery for me, and I think this is still a known problem?

It's a bit ropey (meaning, old Bethesda). Nothing too bad for me though, except when the game sometimes won't even launch because reasons.

Nope. I just had to begrudgingly bit the gold-plated bullets. But you know what, there are worse ways to spend money.

I played through the trilogy back to back (80 hours combined playtime) in September when I had a week off. Sat at a desk in front of a 42-inch screen was very immersive, and it was easily my favourite gaming experience of 2015, which considering how much I loved a number of other games that I played through in the year (GTA V and Witcher 3 in particular) is saying something!

Downside was that the only DLC I had was Shadow Broker for ME2 and Citadel for ME3, but that just leaves me a reason to pick up the rest of the DLC for another play through before Andromeda!
