Just gone to a dual boot XP/Vista setup.....both using the same release drivers (2.33) for their Realtek 5.1 motherboard sound...and OMG!!!!

In XP, Battlefield 2 and other games are a transformed experience in audio terms.....the 5.1 mix is fantastic, i can now actually distinguish people approaching from the rear..

In the mod Forgotten Hope 2.2, the sound of the tank turrets rotating from left to right correctly pans from left to right and vice versa.

It really is like having a whole new sound system.....

In comparison these games sound terrible in Vista....incorrect mix, muffled rear sounds, centre channel drop out, etc,etc.....

Realtek really have to sort out their drivers for Win 7........

Could well be down to BF2 using DS3D, which isn't as well supported in Vista/7. Try using Realtek's 3D soundback application with the game (separate download on their site).

Lol....just tried that and had the effect of turning all in game radio chatter to a s-l-o-w m-o-t-i-o-n c-r-a-w-l.....

Serioulsy their Vista/Win7 drivers truly suck compared to XP.
