Just got a Hero, should I update?

Not sure if i should or how but here are the details from the phone;


Firmware version: 1.5
Baseband version: 63.18.55.06EU_6.35.06.81
Build number: 2.73.405.5 146733
Software version: 1.0.0.A6288


any help would be appreciated!

Depends if you want to go down the custom ROM route. I'd suggest reading up on custom ROMS, etc and make a decision then update to whatever.

That's the latest official ROM so no you don't have to update it.

Update it. You can always downgrade if you want to go the custom route at a later date.

It is for Orange branded phones, they have different updates to the standard hero.

I seem to be only on build number 1.76 - How do I update this? (Staying on the official ROM's).

I'm on T-Mobile.

I didn't realise I was running an old version! Lucky I spotted this thread. I thought it updated automatically. Anyway I'm going to try this out:

That does work, since I just used it.

Haven't really noticed any sort of speed up tbh

You're on the latest ROM for sim free heros so no need to update until they release the Android 2.1 update.
