It's a surprisingly populated city compared to most areas in the UK, the trouble seems to be in proportion in my experience.
 
You should always be removing head unit or anything else, Even bags and lose change in some places, It takes seconds for some scumbag to get in and steal it, They will risk it for as little as a few ££ or a shopping bag in my experience.
 
I'm just used to living in an area where the local police dropped leaflets through the door telling people they should probably lock their cars when on their drives. It was that safe. Probably part of my silly cheap insurance as a teen :P

My hastily duct taped patch is doing a rather good job at preventing the rain. I'm aware I may have to reapply it a few times but I'm moving house tomorrow (from my uni room to a house... in my mx5... lots of trips!) so I don't have the time at all to go out and get it sorted.

I've got over it a bit now, and just have to chalk it up to experience. Life goes on, and all.

is the simple truth..people will steal anything if they think it will get some a few quid the buy a few grams of whatever recreational drug they happen to prefer
 
This is one of my main worries whenever I park the z4 anywhere :( one of the main reasons I'd never get an after market stereo system. Never leave anything on show, too many scumbags around! Feel for you mate :(
