Just had the contents of my bank account stolen!

There was something about this and Wonga a while ago on Watchdog. People having loans taken out in their names.

It was about 2-3 weeks ago. It's amazing how rife this seems with Wonga.

This thing about wonga, please explain to me;

If they are using your details to take out a loan, then surely the money would go into YOUR ACCOUNT?!

This is what puzzles me. You can't get cash directly from Wonga, it has to go into a bank account.

Has anyone ever got a Wonga loan, is it possible to specify a different account for repayments, or is this a case of the scammers are watching your scammed account for the very moment that the money goes in to take it out?

But then surely the account holder would notice the transaction ?

Might be that they provide account details for transfer in and then card details for repayments?

Whats wonga with you lot?

Normally you give back 4000% when repayling on these forums?

Anyway back to a serious note! You might need to get your credit score checked out after this because I heard some nasty rumours floating around. By taking payday loans, you effectively screw yourself over when going to the bank for a mortgage as the bank will tell you to go run n jump. It does not matter if the loan is paid back asap, they just bawk at it!

Anybody able to confirm this?

That would only happen if a human had to actually look at the report - but then again anyone who's had reason to use a payday loan in the near past is fairly likely to either fail or have a credit check referred. If this is the case I'd imagine it's viewed in a negative affordability light, rather than being a problem for the actual credit check.
