Sweet, everything came through the door this morning just set it up easy enough and connected it via Ethernet.

Now I have 20 Meg Virgin CABLE and 8 Meg BT ADSL

Pops works for BT and they get Adsl for £1 setup fee and no monthly fees.

Check the BT Speedtester, you're line is probably either still training or your IP profile is stuck, if it's the latter, just ring BT and they'll arrange to have it upped.

Or his line just simply can't do more than 2Mbps; it's not a guaranteed 8Mbps. Still, my bet is on the IP profile.

Probably a stuck IP profile - try the speedtest later tonight and post the results, you might be a victim of their traffic managment system, which can limit the speeds to near dial-up in peak times.

If you have only connected for the first time on the 29th then you are still inside the DLM and it will take a couple of days for your line to stabalise.

Run the Speedtest though and post the results as that will tell us your sync rate as well.

Try AOL through a BT line. Its pathetic. Max downloard off of a good server is around 40kbps :(

And we are paying for AOL plus a BT line. Housemates already had it when I moved in. Girls should not be allowed to organise things like this :p
