To be honest I see the LDs as 1 credible leader away from a massive ressurgence Both Labour and Tories have left a gaping hole in the middle of the political spectrum. Tories are heading right and now have farage to worry about as well. Labour, well they need to somehow break momentum and the fixation with Corbyn.
Entirely likely. The Tories are moving back to the right after a decade of being centrists and Labour have gone Full Marxist. I imagine another smooth-talking centrist leading the LDs would see them into 2nd place at the next GE.
FishFluff made what appears to be perfectly civil, reasonable and valid observation that "You seem to think everyone who disagrees with your opinion (which is most people, judging from other threads) is nasty or attacking you." and your response is: Are you perchance stood in a hole with a shovel in your hand?
Well this thread isn't about me, yet he decided to make a negative post about me. So you're both wrong.
A pro-EU centrist party would absolutely clean up with the utter shambles on both sides of the house right now. I sincerely hope the independent group can continue to grow and coalesce into something in this vein, before our political system turns into a parody of the US.
Probably took 5 minutes to realise he wasn't joking Changing the subject though, I watched the party political broadcast by the lib dems that was on last night (its on iplayer) just confirms whats posted here tbh, if the electorate can get behind the LDs they are bang on message
I voted Lib Dem until they joined up with the Tories, enabled austerity and threw away one of the central planks of their manifesto (tuition fees) in exchange for getting a 5p charge placed on plastic bags. The ******** of the SNP I saw through decades earlier, however, and I was not surprised when their councillors opposed bedroom tax relief in councils not controlled by their party. @terminal Boy - if you think Labour is "full Marxist" then you don't know what Marxism is. Corbyn is a social democrat, not a communist. But it's an easy lie for the media to sell because New Labour had triangulated so far to the right that adopting even mildly left wing politics is a huge shift.
Corbyn isnt a social democrat, he's a democratic socialist. You cannot support mass monopolistic nationalisation and claim to be a social democrat unless you're a total idiot or a dishonesty liar.
Corbyn overlaps a number of socialist positions - he is neither a communist or not a communist and you can't really pigeon hole him as a democratic socialist either he borrows from various left leaning schools of thought.
Theyve barely even came up with anything vaguely resembling socialism never mind marxism. Maybe if they actually were more left wing they would be worthy of being called the labour party.
Did you not get the memo? Anything to the left of Adolf Hitler is now fully automated luxury gay space communism.
You missed Lenin-Marxism from the list of bad words there! Remember workers rights are just another attempt by the EU to subjugate our autonomy, we must resists by voting for Hitler-Himmler-Pot-Mogg-May!
Did you not get the memo? Apparently Hitler was a Socialist, it says so in their name so it must be true. Therefore all WW2 deaths are somehow how magically related to communism and Corbyn will enslave millions.
I wonder how long before this has to happen to the Tories and other very right wing parties who spout racist tropes. The racism and far right rhetoic of today has grown in leaps and bounds since the days of weekly shows like 'Love thy neighour' was recognised as being slightly racist and not really appropriate in todays age.
