Just ordered my new sat nav...

I've used my friend's one a few times, thought it performed well. Just a heads up really for anyone who's considering buying a satnav.

most satnav equipment willperform well, last year, i had a cheap usb GPS unit that cost me £20 or something, it got me to cornwall with no problems, i now have a sirf star 3 bluetooth unit with navicore on my mobile phone, that too gets me where i want to be. and neither cost anything near £360 ;)

TomToms are way too big for my liking. Even the One is large compared to the Nuvi. Also, I was disappointed by the TomTom's screen, in that it's not as bright as the Nuvis, and it also doesn't handle glare as well. Oh, and I liked the text-to-speech feature of the Nuvi.

Indeed.... one of the best features of that sat nav unit is it does other stuff than just sat nav.... and it's small.

Oh, wait, that's what a PDA is for!!

Fox that comment is laughable ;) Sig material I think ;)

I've only used tomtom and I found a friends 500 really simple to use and it worked really well.

Friend has one.

Cost more than TomTom, isn't as good as TomTom.

Exactly the same here. My mate got one so we tried to plan the route to the pub, it couldn't find it. Then we tried to plan the route to somewhere else (I forget where) and again it couldn't find it. Not a good start.

It does look quite tidy though.
