:D JUst bought one, spur of the moment thing!

But i have already been in contact with Thermalright on the issue of the HSI heatsink, just had to send my Invoice and My address to them via Email and they will sort it all out for me!

So hoping for some confirmation later and I'll let you know how I get on!

Why are you in contact with them?

Well im pretty sure I need to get the new HSI heatsink for the cooler as it doesnt sit properly on the GTS. This has been confirmed in reviews and also by Thermalright themselves

lol I assume not mav since the 8800 series surely couldnt be powered on AGP

Compatible with Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTX video cards only.
For 8800 GTS card, a seperate HSI heatsink is required (available by mid March, free to existing HR-03 Plus owners.)

This is the heatsink I am hoping will be shipped out to me

And for my daily "good thing":

Actually would be nice to know OCuK's stance on this issue!

Can you guys provide us with these HSI heatsinks via THermalright?

Make one out of some old cardboard and masking tape. With a fine addition of PleXiGlasS! you might get something that looks completely unlike what you want. You then take that and solder it on somewhere around where it shows on the picture. Remember to use lots of solder metal!

Sprinkle with superglue and then RMA to your graphics card manufacturer.

Quoting "Jrodga2k5" I cant help but ask you about your E6300 clock speed. Now i have browsed most E6300 overclock threads and never have found anyone with that clock of 2.33Ghz. I thought i was the only one with an E6300 clocked less than 2.5Ghz on this forum. Which motherboard you are using at the moment? Every time i look at 3.0Ghz+ speeds on the E6300 it takes a me a little closer to plot the mass extinction of my motherboard kind!

THat was the speed of those scores ;P im currently running at 2.45GHz which IS THE MAX on my motherboard :( its disappointing but its because im using a 945chipset which I assume is the same as yourself.
Asus 5PLD2-Se is my mobo and the 945 chipsets are poor clockers indeed. Im going to get a new motherboard eventually to clock further

Oh we may have a simple solution to the problem here! Check this out! :D

BAsically look at the HSI heatsink on the left hand side, it has been cut to fit the card fine! There is apparently a small capacitor or something which obscures it so that is how the HSI supplied doesnt fit! I will be attempting to do the cut tomorrow night or on saturday morning :D wish me luck!

looks like i was right, the hsi chip was for the cross platform use of a gpu from agp to pci-e and the other way round. why the heck does a 8series need one?

Wow Mav you were, im allowed to be shocked I think about that as it seems to actually have no purpose! Oh well!

JUst a silly problem thats unwanted with this heatsink thing!

right im gonna do some digging around to find out what it does on the 8 series cards, could you remove yours/desolder it and see how the card behaves without it? :p :D

If you would prefer to send the card to me I would test it thoroughly.

So you're not going with my super glue, cardboard and sticky tape idea?

Dont know what the HSI does but it runs very hot, the HR-03 HSI heatsink is hot too touch when the card is fully loaded, but the main heatsink however is warm at most. This is on a GTX
