just signed up in a shop for a 18 month contract how long to i have to cancel if i can?

i want to cancel as i have now be told i can not use voip over the network as this was one of the main things i needed the n95 for

you have 14 days cooling off period as a new customer
if it was an upgrade officially there is no option to cancel...but it is possible speak to customer services or kick up a fuss in shop and manager has the ability to cancel the contract

aproctor, you're wrong.

If you actually read the link that you posted, you will have seen "mobile" as one of the items under "What's not covered?"

Any returns policy for mobiles that are provided by shops or networks, for non-online/telephone sales (i.e. bought in a shop, in person) is purely that network's generosity and there is no statutory right to cancel a mobile phone contract that you bought in a shop, just because you don't want it anymore.

Of course, things like faulty handsets etc is a whole different bag altogether.

A had a contract from Carphone a few years ago and I was told at the time I wouldn't be able to outright cancel the contract once it was signed. Within the first 14days they would allow me to change it to any other contract/deal of the same length though. It seemed like a load of rubbish to me but since I knew exactly what I wanted I wasn't too fussed.

Just brought a new handset/30day contract from an o2 shop and they told me I had 14days to return it for a full refund-call costs.
