Just took delivery of a RAID pack - 2 Different drives?

Getting abit annoyed with this.....

Ordered this pack, I get 2 YS drives. Put both of them in 1 has the click of death. Heres where it gets silly.

I send the DOA one back and get a replacement sent to my work address which is closed (after being told its going to my home address). I ring OCuk and tell them to get DPD to ship it to my home address as work will be closed till 4th Jan.

Role onto today, I ring DPD and its going to my work address again!!! (they have no record of OCuk doing an address change). So I tell them ill pick it up as ill sort it out with OCuk later. I drive 60miles return trip and get my drive.

The replacement is a ABYS :(. So atm I have a YS and a ABYS cant see any differences, would be nice to know what are the differences. I will be calling OCuk tomorrow.

All of the 'clean pull' drives are used and therefore second hand. This should be made very clear in the advertising. It would be interesting to see what trading standards make of this.

I purchased two 'clean pull' drives a few weeks ago, one had 23 hours and the second had 143 hours and failed the Seagate diagnostics. I kept the first drive as it was already in my system but I returned the second one for a refund. I purchased the same drive from a competitor with a three year warranty for another £3.

My last few purchases with OcUK haven't been very successful, I purchased an AMD X2 250 recently that had two pins bent on it, getting them to change that was a complete nightmare. Never again.

Ive always stood by OCuk even thoe there a little more expensive etc. I dont necessary mind having 2 different drives as the failure rates should be different. Im however not happy with the advert. Its not clearly explained and written badly.

I have fired a email to customer services about there inability to change a postage address and what they will offer me in compensation. Yet to hear anything...

Ill stick to buying my parts off other suppliers really, luckily this was a home server so the restraints for perfect parts are minimal. If I was a corporate user however...
 
Im shocked that they think they can sell clearly used items without using the word "used".

Clean pull would, to me having worked at similar places, mean that its a drive taken from a machine that was either returned unused or taken out of a machine that was build but never shipped, so would not be in the original bag and may have screw marks etc.

Certainly not a drive thats been used in a machine for 900+ hours and 4 years old! thats absolutely ridiculous... to me the value of such a drive would be a fiver, maybe 10 from a mate tops.

Hell you can buy a brand new 1TB drive with 3 year warranty for 37quid!

I bought these as there RE (Raid Edition) drives. In my mind Clean Pull means they havnt been used etc. I accept the 1 year warranty as there technically oem.

Im going to also agree recently ive only had 1 good purchase recently through OCuk. The rest have either magically gone out of stock, got held up or been faulty.

The drives that have been sent back will be sent out again as third hand drives. I kept one of the seagate clean pull drives that I purchased that had 23 hours on it, but I carried out several pre-clears using unRAID to ensure that there were no problems with the drive, it is now at 590 hours and it is still ok.
 
Yeh im keeping the drives as now there in my server raid which manages backups and media round my network. Data id rather keep in my hands regardless of the amounts of formats etc.

Id just like people to be aware before buying...

hmm I hate having a boring bank holiday. If I read that right that means the YS drive has done 27,000 hours?
