Just took my 26 year old Capri 2.8i for it's 1st MOT in almost 2 years.

It's been sat on the driveway doing nothing at all for ages, it was last driven on 16th December 2008 as it blew a core plug that proved to be a nightmare to get at due to the non-standard exhaust maniolds that i'd got fitted so the repairs kept getting put off. We've had the engine in bits as we had to take it out anyway but nothing else on the car has been touched.

Due to how long it's been stood doing nothing i expected a hefty fail list due to bits ceased up & through general lack of use. So imagine my shock today when the bloke pulls my car out of the garage and comes over & says-

"we've had to fit a new wiper blade".

I asked "what else needs doing?"

And i get the reply of - "Nothing, everything else appears fine, we've not issued any advisories"

I drove all the way home looking like :D listening to some pushrod V6 burble!

Now if only my R-Reg Rover 220SDi could acheive the same next month!

Always a good feeling when they pass the MOT without fault.

My CTR gets abused day in day out with no part spared my lack of sympathy and even after 12 months of that, it survived this year. Last year I had brakes and engine mount to get it through the MOT.

I never actually fail an MOT though, I always take it in early and have it looked at & serviced, but if it's fine then it gets MOT'd that day and then the annual hassle is done and dusted. Shame it's going next month now :(
