Hi all

Have a bud in work who is having trouble connecting the above camera to his PC.

He says that he hasnt got a software disk and Windows is asking for drivers for the cam. Have done a search on the JVC site and also Googled, but havent found anything.

Does any one else have this cam and if so can you help out.

Cheers all

Paul

He's trying to transfer contents of the tape to PC via USB I assume?

Check the menu system to see if there's an option to enable USB streaming. The few camcorders I've had all needed this setting enabled for the cam to be recognised by Windows.

Try connecting the cam using Firewire, that also solved my problems. USB is generally only reccomended for transferring still images/video from the memory card.

Yes ,there is only one good way to connect a camcorder to a PC to download footage , that's by Firewire .USB2 can be used but is not always succesful as it is only designed for short bursts or for downloading still pictures. Firewire cards are cheap nowadays and with some video editing software like Pinnacle or Ulead you can capture the footage to edit quite easily.
