K&N filter cleaning

oops yea, just use water soluble de greaser/cleaner, halfords sell it in the motorbike section as will most car places, spray it on and leave it for 5 mins, then rinse and agitate, if it doesnt fully clean it repeat, then re oil it.

It will be the same stuff just in a bottle rather than aerosol and will cost you a lot more, (make sure its water soluble though thats the important bit)

I will say thats just what I would do anyway

Yea, that's exactly what I was driving at - but as mentioned, it's not the filter that's the restriction in the majority of cases, it's actually the intake system itself, as you yourself imply :)

I mentioned I have one on my bike.. but as you say, it's more the intake itself. Mine is not just a replacement filter, it junks the whole airbox and replaces it with a base-plate, mahoosive foam filter over the inlet trumpets and ... that's it! :D . Lots of noise (addictive!) and proven gains on owners club forums :) .

Edit: Not mine but exactly like this:

Old air inlet is the big hole on the left, still used but air can now be taken from all directions even with the tank down. The small filter thing is an oil breather.
