have you fitted a K&N induction air failter thingo on your car? (or similar thing)

Did it change how the car sounded when driving normally, or accelerating?

I know it has to be placed infront of a cold air feed, and warm air will just make for worse performance etc.

its just the sound i am interested in

ta

:)

Yeah, ive heard them on Camrys (V6) and they make them sound so much beastyer :D

For around $50-$150 you will like what you get

BTW go straight through this company when getting them.

That way you wont be shafted by retail prices of 60%-120% mark up ;)

Hope that helps :)

Buy it fast :p

What ever you do, dont go out and buy it from an actual store like Halfords or something.

They really dont cost as much and you think they do, its just retail prices have been marked up ******* **** loads :(

Try find a distributer or supplier and go through them :)

What car is this going on? Just here are plenty of other manufacturers such as Apexi, ITG, Green etc.

Personally I don't rate K&N as highly as other brands, i've had Apexi on my past two cars and both were brilliant.

Ford Probe 2.5L V6

;)

I've got a pipercross on the MGF and it makes a gay car sound quite cool (above 4000rpm anyway)

When you're just driving around normally it sounds no different to standard, but when you floor it, it sounds much better.

Oh, and I've got an ITG on the Elise which makes the sewing machine engine sound violent and angry when 2nd cam kicks in, I love it!!

Sounds cool, makes very little difference to performance, cheap. Buy one. You can always change it back to standard.

I fitted an Apexi kit to Kates 200SX the other day. It hasn't changed the induction note a huge amount but now you can hear it chattering and wooshing all the time, it's so addictive :D

Hmm, tempted by one just for the noise, but I know it'll probably make the car slower as the engine bay gets red hot on GT Fours.

Ive always wanted to hear a diesel car with one of those big chav like big bore exhausts and a 3rd party air filter :E

Would be fun to pull at a Mcdonalds car park with

im changing back from a pipercross cone to a modded airbox as soon as i can work out where to relocate the catch tank to.

sounds wise its just a bit louder. performance wise... youll end up breathing loads of hot air, and that was after i spent ages sorting out cold air feeds

Im sure it would make a difference on my 2.5 V6 TDI :D maybe not so much the air filter but im sure the exhaust would hehe

I've used K&N airbox filters on a couple of cars, which made a small but noticeable change.
Used a K&N typhoon cone on my old MX5. Similar to Eidolons experience, cruise around and it was no noisier than a standard car. Nail the throttle and it sounded glorious. Made me wonder why anyone buys big bore exhausts, as you just don't get a repreive on say a motorway.

On your Mazda v6 powered Probe, I'd expect it to sound ace.

have to disagree a bit with that i have a "bigger" bore exhaust on my car 2.25" cat back and its not that noisey on th motorway. infact its actually niosier when your backing down and letting off the throttle (down a hill or whatever) or when at ***. if you get it done properly and sensibly it shouldnt be too overbearing.

UNLIKE some quad exit scorpion this guy had on his 206GTI, that did make it difficult to hold conversation whilst journeying!
