So, I have some left over parts from a PC build. Amongst these is an old Kaby Lake I5 7500. I plan to use this in a mini streaming PC, but I'm really struggling to find a motherboard that is not stupidly priced. Am I able to use my CPU in a Coffee Lake board. I'm aware it is an LGA 1151 socket, but I'm a bit confused whether I can do this. Any guidance would be helpful. Thank you.

Nope afraid not. While the Coffee Lake CPUs go into motherboards which are indeed LGA1151, they do differ. 6th and 7th gen CPUs will be able to go into the first revision of LGA1151 socket motherboards and associated chipsets (z170, z270 etc). Revision 2 of LGA1151 will only support 8th Gen (coffee lake) and 9th Gen (Coffee Lake Refresh)

I've seen modded bios in the opposite direction, but not kaby lake to a coffee. You could buy a 100 board, like h110 or b150, they can go pretty cheap, but you'd have to check the BIOS has been updated first to support 7th gen.
