Kawasaki Z300 + New Biker q's

I've nothing to compare it to but my R6 catches me off guard and feels like my arms might get dislocated.

Though when reading about it everyone said the R6 lacks bottom end so I'd be scared to ride something with a lot of bottom end!

Dont worry about buying new, if you worry about dropping it you will, your not small so i would say fairly strong so even if you do lose your balance you should just be able to lay it down, i have only ever lay my bike down once never dropped it.

I would also go with the bigger bike, i wanted a BMW GSA for my first bike, got told that it was to big blah blah blah, i ended up with a vstrom, 12 months later i had the BMW, get what you want, ride with people of your own ability or somebody willing to get you to a decent standard.

Anything in that Kawasaki colour looks good imo.

It's the insurance that screws you over on newer bikes. I'd have a new bike at the drop of a hat if they insurance companies weren't gonna take my kidneys for the pleasure. (Yes, I live in a poor area for it now but even in St Albans it was expensive to insure a new bike as a newbie.)

i really dislike that, and i find the smaller tyres tend to not inspire confidence on the corners, id be looking at an ER or an SV

Thanks for all the responses guys.

Thinking about a duke 390 too? But had a quick look around and they're not meant to be quite as refined as the Kawasaki's.

Can't wait to just test ride a few tbh.

Test ride, no chance, every dealer i know needs you to have had your licence at least a year.

KTM is a great bike but then i am biased.

Get a bigger bike, the lower capacity bikes aren't the same as the ones made back in the 90's. You can always restrict a bigger bike if you don't feel confident with that power... at least you've the choice to have more power whenever you want to in the future. :p

I done my das on an er6n and liked it nearly bought one as my first bike but liked the sportier look of the svs.

I had the exact same decision to make, I went for SV. I did tons of research, narrowed the bikes down to; SV650, MT07 and CBF650.

What type of bike are you thinking about? I like the upright position and ez of flicking a bike. That's why I mainly wanted either SV (184kg wet weight) or MT07 (179kg wet weight), nakeds are v.good for beginners like me imo. :p

I had the Versys - same engine and frame, just taller and revised map for torque lower down the Rev range. That was a terrific bike :)
