Kawasaki Z300 + New Biker q's

I had the exact same decision to make, I went for SV. I did tons of research, narrowed the bikes down to; SV650, MT07 and CBF650.

What type of bike are you thinking about? I like the upright position and ez of flicking a bike. That's why I mainly wanted either SV (184kg wet weight) or MT07 (179kg wet weight), nakeds are v.good for beginners like me imo. :p

Looking into ER6N, Duke 690, them kind of bikes. Something that I can restrict whilst on A2 for 2 years then unrestrict and give me a bit more power. Will leave me with a bike for the future rather than a 300cc I would want to upgrade after 6 months.

I'm a massive fan of the naked styling too and the slightly more upright riding position.

I did my DAS on an ER6N and wouldn't buy one based on my experience. Probably a decent basic commuter, but there are much better bikes out there.

Get an MT-07, You can grab a non-abs model for 4,7k brand new with warranty. The ABS could come in handy if you never rode a bike, I did lock my wheels up on the KTM couple times. But nothing major, just learn to pump the brakes not squeeze them all the way.

The Duke 690 isn't that refined, if you want a motorcycle that sounds like a diesel than that's the bike for you. :p

Where abouts are you seeing these MT-07's for 4.7k brand new btw?

Looks like a strong contender!

I owned a ER6F for 2 years after passing my full license (rode 125's for 8 years)
the Kawasaki ER6f 650cc is perfect for a beginner but also has a good amount of power for overtaking .

Infact any 650cc bike is fine in my opinon, a 300cc bike you will get bored with within a year and lacks the power you need sometimes to overtake safely and quickly.

I now own a Kawasaki Z1000sx (its older brother) and I actually feel more stable and safe!

I would try and testride asmany as you can, someone's opinion of a certain bike might be the total opposite to what you feel ect

He'll have issues getting test rides with an A2 licence though, most places down have A2 restricted bikes so he'll be limited to the 400cc catagory bikes.
