A damn shame. Moyes has called him his greatest signing as a manager, and I wouldn't disagree. Even at his age he was still out-performing the majority of goalkeepers in the Prem, and was a key figure when we finished 4th a year ago. He'll be missed at Goodison, a model professional without doubt.,

Shame he had to retire through injury. He could still do a job.

Remember him at his height when he played for Leeds. he was absolutely amazing. Should have had far more England caps than he did, he outperformed Seaman for a very long time and didn't really get a chance. Any other time he'd have been nailed on number 1.

i thought he was a keeper that was always top form, a loss to the premiership

played football with him a few times when he used to play for Bristol Rovers.

was a good keeper, deserved to get where he did, shame that injury kept him from staying there :/

That is a shame, one of the best goalkeepers in the PL for more than a decade. He didn't win any honours did he? Except a runners up medal in the FA cup. If he didn't, it's a real shame.

At least Everton have the amazing Tim "Tourette's" Howard on a season long loan.

    You mean Tim "*******" Howard. ;) ****!! ****!! *******!!! Damn!!

Martyn was an excellent keeper, he really should had more caps for England. A real asset to any team, it's a real shame injury has forced him into retirement, he could have went on for as long as he liked.

As Gilly has said, should have had more caps for England when he was outperforming David Seaman.

    Great keeper :)
