Just picked one of these up on a 52 plate with 53k on clock, metallic grey fsh both bodywork and interior like new, one owner from new old couple in the mid 60's.

Has electric windows front & back, electric mirrors, electric sunroof, AC and a decent 6 speaker CD setup, seats are really comfy, ABS, central locking ect ect.

Price £875 :)

Engine a 1.6 16v and is spotless, just been for a quick drive init and it perfect not a squeek or knock engine is silent, and drives very smoothly, very nice & easy car to drive.

Insurance cheapest atm is £332 fully comp
Tax over £200 a year though :(

Now i've never bothered to even look at a Kia before, until i saw this for sale and thought what the hell, im actually very suprised and really do like it a lot.

Shaped based on a Mazda 323 i think.

Basically for those after their first car or some cheap runabout, have alook at Kia's, instead of the usual Ford Feista's or Mondeo's, because for the price of a rust bucket basic ford, you can get a fully kitted out Kia with low mileage & decent bodywork.

plus you be safe in the knowlege of knowing your car will be safe were ever you park it, as car thevies will proberly not even take a glance at it.

Not trying to **** on your bonfire but I helped a guy get his keys out of one after he locked himself out. It took about 3 mins of flexing the door by hand to get in and I'm by no means an expert in this sort of thing. Your average scumbag will know this and would rather break into your car in 2 minutes than a fiesta or mondeo that'd take considerably longer/be more hassle.

Co2 Rating is 190g/km for the kia mentor 1.6

Thats shocking

My 2.4 5 Cylinder Turbo with 260bhp is rated at 220 g/km and is in the same tax band.

Shows how crap the older korean stuff was !

Who the **** is going to want to break into a Kia though?

somebody who wants a free mode of transport that is as easy to get into as possible.

A friend of mine has his old Montego stolen. Not because of what it was of course, but just because it was a car that was easy to get into.
This.

For the same reason that old 125 motorbikes are always the pick of the week, these cars get nicked and trashed about by some yobs for an hour and then find their way to the nearest bridle path to be torched. A newer mondeo or fiesta is too much trouble for these scumbags and not worth nicking to pro's.

Downsides to this cunning plan:

No one will ever want to buy it from you, the tax band is utterly lol compared to alternative cars as is the insurance group. I very much doubt the availability of parts is all that great compared to a 'rusty old Ford' either. In terms of kit, you are getting what most cars of the same age would pretty much have as standard anyway. You've just paid crap car money for what is a pretty rubbish car.

This.

Someone stole my 1.0 Vauxhall Nova to get the 2 miles home to the local Council estate. It's unlikely that someone would steal a 45bhp car to go police baiting in...

Run the Kia as a disposable Banger until it drops.

:D

Well that good to know, if the scumbags know this then least they won't damage your door trying to prise it open with a screwdriver or whatnot :p:D

Tbh i've drove worst cars in the past than the Kia Mento, Fiat coming at the top of my list, even now people are still having problems with the latest Punto's ect.

I agree post 2000 Kia made shocking cars, but the quality has improved with the help from both Honda & Hyundia.

It is true that Kia have made great strides in terms of quality recently.

However the Mentor most definately is not included in this - it is very much an old-school Kia and is fundamentally terrible at that, the fact that even the 1.6 litre engine is so woefully inefficient it's taxed at the same rate as many 200+bhp saloon cars should tell you that.

The good Kias are much newer - the Mentor is a terrible car and this is why a 52 plate was only 800 quid. Yes its cheap, but then so is staying in London in a tent under the Hammersmith flyover instead of booking a hotel, sometimes things are cheap for a reason.
