kid wrecked my bike, where do I stand?

bromptons are very good bikes.

just priced up a new wheel and it's £51. nothing insurance can't handle :p police said it's a civil dispute so they can't give me a claim number... although if 2 cars colided then they would have no problem. what's with that.

when I say "wrecked" I just mean not ridable. the front wheel is all bent. it got like that because his full size bike was facing at an angle where as my folding bike has much smaller wheels, and a big guy on it. not sure why this moot point is relevant to the topic but if you're going to ask I may as well answer :p

Buy a new wheel, whats the problem? Get a real bike though!

paint a funny picture?

Looking at that thing makes me laugh....

Looks like someone modded a childs bike by fitting a very long seat post & very long handlebar stem :p

I'm not happy.

I just got in from cycling home from work. While on a busy 2 lane road this kid pulls out from the pavement behind a bus stop shelter out of no where - without even looking!!! and stops right in front of me! I braked but the idiot was too close for it to have any affect and sent me flying over the handle bars!

now I'm not hurt or anything, but the kid was 15. I took his details but what good is it, I can't claim for a broken bike as his bike is fine!

I assume I should just claim off my insurance? :(

Your not going to get much sympathy on this forum bieng a cyclist..

Try asking here they'll be able to give you better advise on how to proceed.
Glad to hear your not hurt though, as a regular cyclist myself I know the hazzards we face commuting everyday to work.

Don't start that nonsense when it's clear that no one has gone down the "bloody cyclists!" route. He has insurance so he can either use that or pay the 50 quid out of his own pocket. The end.

The roads can be dangerous whether you're on a bike, a motorbike, car, van, whatever. Leave the "as a fellow cyclist etc" stuff out of it.

I feel better now :)

The irony being it was another cyclist that caused the accident...

I presume you have reported it to the police as an accident. If nothing else it should get you an incident number which any insurance company will ask for.

what idiot would waste police time over a bike accident that caused a bent wheel?

I know its not his fault but BUY A NEW WHEEL and forget about it...
