Kids bullying old granny in the US

Horrible people are horrible. It's easy to view such outbursts and assume whole rafts of people are just evil. It's like trying to judge the health of a country by just looking at their A&E departments.

Bringing up a child on my own, one of the things I often think about is my child being bullied, but conversely I think the idea of finding out my child was bullying would be just as sickening.

Reminds me of something I saw on the tube a few years ago.

Really made me angry watching that video, nobody deserves that.... Just thinking that could be your mum/gran in that situation :(

Didn't think I'd ever be an 'in my day' person, but even the worse kids growing up were nothing more than mischievous, this is vicious.

Why do you bet that

Being a 21 year old who moved to uk at 14 unable to speak english and got bullied at school for 1.5 years while i was there because of my english and my inability to actually express how i felt at the moment left quite a big scar in me.. now im fine with english quite a bit bigger and in no way would anyone be able to bully me the way they did back then.. and it was from pretty much everyone at school worst year and a half in my life but i got through it and in my eyes came out a better person now that i realise what a few words, pushes or punches can do to a kid or a person i would never bully anyone or allow my self to get bullied again! In college i actually presented my self in a different way was able to speak ok english and had no problems for the next 4 years while i was there.. now i have got into contact with a lot of american kids/teens over the years and none of them to my surprise have acted the way kids/teens did here :-)

I do think that's a bit disproportionate. They should have capped it at $50K total.

There are far worse off people in the world.
I very much doubt she will take the lot, I may be wrong but I am sure most of it will go to a charity of some sort.

Obviously its all proportionate, but some big donations out there; saw several $500 and a $1000 all in the last hour.

Sorry to hear about that, but I don't think you should tar all UK kids with the same brush. It was probably just a bad bunch of kids.

Bullying is a massive problem in the US and they spend lots of money trying to combat it. You know there is a problem when there is a metal detector and security guard at the main entrance...I'd say it was also a problem in the UK, but certainly not worse than the US.

That is just fantastic. £366k and 29 days left. Giving her a tenner just because the video made me mad. Hope she has the best holiday ever :D.

Once upon a time at the immature young age of nine, It was raining at lunchtime at school one day. We weren't allowed to play outdoors in heavy rain so we were playing in our class. I decided to take a piece of paper from the printer and make the most perfectly folded paper aeroplane I'd ever made...

Nine minutes passed. I was gently reinforcing the final crease with the utmost precision when the child sitting next to me snatched it from my hand, scrunched it hastily into a ball and threw it as far as possible. Without any thought, I got up out of my seat and threw the most lethal blow possible by a nine-year-old kid. It landed flush between his eyes and the sheer force of the blow forced the nose-rest on his glasses to dig into the skin of his nose causing them to become stuck on his nose. The blunt force also caused one of the lenses to dislodge from the frame and fall to the ground.

Still conscious, thankfully, he stared at me while still sat in his seat and with his eyes quickly filling with tears, simply said, "Why did you do that?"

Those words and his exact expression, thanks to my impeccable photographic memory, still haunt me to this day.

In a way, I'm glad it happened, as since that day I have made it paramount in my life that I never harm another human being in any way.

My point is, kids do stupid things, regrettable in later life. And I hope these children learn when they are slightly older and have the chance to sincerely apologise to her before it's too late.

I hope she has a comfortable retirement, and the little scrotes that did this feel somewhat dumbfounded by this turn of events. I can't imagine how anyone could be abusive like that to an old woman. Utterly horrible. :(

Nothing like an excerpt from a novel at 7:30am.

Holy ****, its getting toward half a million now .

Got to agree with others that this should have had a cap on, or at least be ended early. It's great that people have done this but I have a feeling a lot of people are going to be trying it on now, to make some money from a fake video. Which would make it hard to tell the false situations from the real, meaning something like this could never happen again.
