Kids lights

Ive bought a kids ceiling light, it has a metal base that fits to the ceiling and a glass dish that goes over it. It states the maximum wattage of bulb is 60 watt or equivalent. What would happen if I put a bulb slightly higher rated, do you think ?

It might get a bit hotter to the touch than you might expect.

Yeah I'll be using the energy saving equivalent.

The lamp holders are designed for a certain temperature, exceed that and they crumble after a few years. Well all my angle poise lamps did anyway 60w --> 100w.

Put CCFL's in, they are a lot more efficient and cooler
