Kids playing out on the street

Its just abit of noise. Did this not cross your mind when you bought the house?

Maybe if you actually had some respect from the kids you could ask them to move? But really what can you expect in a cul-de-sac?

Well I see his point the Volvo has gained a nice round football scuff on the rear left panel, only noticed it under a certain angle when it was in to swap the tyres, it'll probably polish out but annoying nonetheless, that some kid kicked the ball hard enough against your car for it to leave a small mark. I don't like it when the kids in my street play footy here too and often move the car to a different parking when they do. What's the point of claying, polishing and waxing it if it gets damaged again :( ?

I think the people jumping on the OP are being a bit too bullish, here.

Kids out playing football, cycling around and generally being kids are fine. That's a fact of life and general noise that we all have to put up with.

Kicking footballs AGAINST your car, garage door and general property is not on, and indeed the repeated banging and worry about what's being damaged will drive you absolutely insane.

To the OP: it really depends on whether these are "decent" kids in a nicer area (cul-de-sacs are generally OK). If they are, just head out and give them a friendly word asking if they could try not to hit your property with the ball, as it could feasibly cause damage.

If you just get lip back, or it doesn't stop, you'll need to make a diary of events (including every "impact" and invasion of your property to retrieve balls) and report it to the council with a view to getting a "No Ball Games" sign put in.

How old are these kids?

Call you local neighbourhood policing team. They will prob send a PCSO and have a word! Thats what I did and they aint come back yet!

As long as they don't hit your car or windows stop being a grumpy git. But if they do then send a bill to the parents.

We used to play "kickups" outside mine and my friends house and had done so for over 10 years when some old woman started complaining that "it looked like the ball was about to come through the window"

I don't care what it looks like love, the fact is it didn't.

I absolutely hated neighbours who moaned about this when I was a kid.

Me too, especially considering they moaned about us playing footy on a bloody football field or on an asphalt basketball field. Simply just because of the noise, I can see entirely where the OP is coming from regarding his car and other property, you wouldn't like some kids kicking the ball against your car either would you ?

Always played football in the street as a kid, always got moaned at by random people. Never stopped us, the park was always covered in ****

Just a kick about we weren't hammering the ball around or at houses or anything. Probably played kirbsy most until someone parked in front of the kerb:mad:

Stop being grumpy. We have kids playing and being noisy around our house, it's not ideal but you put up with it, I know I was a nuisance when I was young. They go inside early anyway

I'm more surprised that these kids are allowed to play outside without 1 adult per child watching over them at all times. You know, with all those peados lurking behind every bush :).

If balls are bouncing off cars and house windows then I'd say you have a problem, but if not just let them play.

Obviously people focus and answer based on there preference. Someone wanting a decent quiet street will say report them and people who did this as kids and were probably annoying themselves will say your a grump. In the end though if they are good kids just drop it, kind of like a reward for them but if they're not being careful and are shouting all the time then I'd just report them like others said. In the end kids want to play but if they can't even do it without shouting every second is it a surprise people would get annoyed? We have some kids on the other street to mine that just scream all the time (like they're dying) and I don't do a thing about it because its not even my street but where its bothering you then they should get reported especially if your car could get damaged.
Yes I've done this myself but I generally stood infront of the cars just to make sure they didn't get hit since why would I want them to get damaged after someone payed so much for it? Good kids will behave good and the bad ones should just be pushed around till they learn.
