I am going on a lads holiday in a week and they have decided to have a night with kilts. This presents a problem as i dont have one and dont fancy hiring one out. I have been on the bay and seen "kilts" for around £40 does anyone have any idea what these will be like it really just needs to look the part as i dont have the cash for the real thing.

If its just for one night, go for it as you could use it again. But by the time you've bought all the cheap stuff to make up a kilt, you could have rented a 'proper' one. If you are stood next to someone who is properly kitted out, you'll stick out like a sore thumb.

My kilt alone cost £800, that wasn't even including my plaid.

Please, watch what colour socks you get too.

The holidays abroad so i really dont know how good an idea hiring one and taking it away for a week would be. Yeah most of the others have the real thing but sadly i just dont have the money just now its been something i have been wanting for a while.

just buy a tartan skirt. Ask your Mum if she has one. :)

Or just stand out from the rest of them with Tartan trousers and if a group of girls come up to you asking why your wearing trousers you can make a witty comment, don't know what though.

Ah right, just get cheap rubbish then if you're going to be vomitting down your front etc :p

:-).lol. it looks good from the picture weighs 16 ounces (i dont know if thats good) but is made from acrylic and cotton instead of wool.

16oz is heavy weight, means your pleats stay in better, and it doesn't act like a skirt. Much heavier, means when you turn the kilt 'spins' after you.. if you know what I mean.

at the end of the day you get what you pay for as I said. :)

If you are going to wear a full kilt, get all the gear, and do it proper.

you could just go kilt casual, and get a cheaper kit and sporran/socks.. Probably will be passable :)

He doesn't have the money to do it properly.
