Yes just like you can use any android or iOS device as a kindle as well, but you'll be reading on a normal lcd screen which defeats the point of using it as a kindle in my opinion.

Use kindle app for iPad and that is ok
Personally I don't like reading a lot on lcd screens I much prefer the kindle's e-ink display, much nicer on my eyes.
No it's not, by kindle I meant the e-book readers rather than the fireJust picking up on this last comment, the Kindle Fire is not an e-ink display though is it?
If not, is it actually any "better" for reading e-books than the Galaxy Nexus 7?
I do rather like the idea of being able to read books and magazines in full colour, which would also mean that I wouldn't have to subscribe to so many 'dead tree' ones each month!

It'll be absolutely no different, I imagine the kindle software will be better in some way on the fire but in terms of actually reading then the Nexus will be exactly the same.
