Everywhere i've read the new R1 Directors Cut of Kindom of Heaven has been getting excellent reviews and I really would like to get a copy.

However I don't like NTSC DVD's as the quality is noticeably poorer. Now the R2/PAL version of this DVD is out in a few days time and yet the running time is MUCH shorter.

I understand PAL runs slightly quicker so films are always shorter than their R1 equivalents but does this sound the same cut of the film.

R1 version = 194 minutes long
R2 version = 144 minutes long

Surely this cannot be the same directors cut, and yet they are both 4 disc sets released close to the same time

Try Here This site is a lifesaver at picking the best region for a film, and looks like R1 is the only DC out at the moment, I have it and have to say the quality is amazing :)

Just so you know, R2 versions should run approx 4% shorter. In fact you can often even tell that the sound is 4% speeded up if you hear a song that you know really well, being used on a film. You'd think they'd use some form of pitch correction to put the audio back in it's proper pitch, but I don't think they do.
