Know your chillis, or pay the price

I like a vindaloo every now and then.Tried half a scotch bonnet once and sweated for half an hour but that's about it.Naga about knocked me on my ass though.

This.
Scotch bonnets are very hot, they can how ever vary. Sure there are quite a few hotter but chewing on a scotch bonnet would make anyone cry in agony.
Either way, you chop them up and put them in whatever you're cooking, not munch on them like sweets. What a doughnut!

Well it depends on how much you eat them. Everyone builds up an immunity. When I was a kid, Japalenos seemed hot. After a few years they seemed to lose their kick, so I switch to green chillis. Then birdseye peppers. Now I mostly only buy habaneros and scotch bonnets...... just to get the same kind of kick I used to get from Japalenos.

I scratched my balls after chopping a scotch bonnet the other week. Also the following day i bit my nail and that burnt my tongue.

It's quite amazing how hot chillis can be. I wish i could be bothered to search for the science behind it.

Playing with my contact lenses after using chillis is something I never seem to learn from :o

Made the mistake of washing my hands with warm (or was it cold, forget which) water after chopping bird's eye chillis, then 45 minutes later rubbed my eye. 4 hours later, the burning finally subsided enough that I could take the wet wash cloth I was forced to hold against my eye away.

I burnt the soft skin below my fingernails chopping scotch bonnet chillis, very painful, but not as painful as when I scratched my backside afterwards!

Lemon juice releived the pain.

Wash hands in oil, then washing liquid.

Need fat to dsolve the capsaicin, i's why you drink milk/yoghurt rather than water/beer.
