Koran burning in reaction to 9/11

This is what gets me... OK, some silly nutter wants to burn some sheets of paper... But the level of "mad" response is awe inspriring...

Burning Quran is the most hideous crime or action, Malaysian foreign minister described on Thursday.

Jordan's Islamic Action Front (IAF) condemned on Wednesday a Florida pastor who planned to burn the Quran on the anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, saying it is a "form of declaring a war on Muslims."

The Afghan president said Friday a US pastor "should not even think" of burning the Koran at a provocative event marking 9/11, as Indonesia's leader said nothing less than world peace was at stake.


Why is more effort within these Islamic cultures not being made to rationalise this matter. It's a sad numpty burning some sheets of paper. So what!

At what point does paper take on some magical property where people, groups, countries get so wound up about it? When all the words of the Koran are printed on them? When half the words? Which half? The first half of it? The second half? Alternate words?

The level of madness is maddenning! But hey! Religion is involved which seems to go hand in hand with madness all too often!

He is a God to Fear and Worship, but he is oft-most forgiving and merciful. You should fear if you do wrong, but repent and ask for forgiveness.

It is difficult for others who are not brought up like this to understand, which is understandable.

The real travesty of this is that this self-proclaimed Pastor has gotten so much air-time and copy-space.

No-one would have ever heard of this nutter or his attempt to incite religious hatred if not for the fools who make such inane editorial decisions.

Freedom of Speech also comes with an inherent responsibility of respect. You should not use freedom of speech to run roughshod over others views simply to illicit a negative reaction.

The burning of any book should not be publicised like this has been, next the front-pages will be full of every silly and ridiculous thing any street-corner evangelist has to say or do.

Stephen Hawking has hinted at the possibility of a natural balance to the Universe (he used the train travelling close to C and a girl running in the train in the same direction which would technically make her faster than light but because of the way space and time work this would not be possible!)

It's well worth watching the 3 part series released recently.

The thing is, that sort of behaviour is disgusting regardless of the book content. Muslims hold the Qu'ran in special esteem, to abuse that to cause offence is wrong. The same would be true of anything that anyone holds in similar esteem.

If someone took a picture of your Mother or Sister, and done the same would that not be equally offensive to you.

It is not the act, it is the intent to offend that is the issue.
 
Muslims are a bunch of uncivilised hypocrites.

Its fine for them to be in OUR country abusing OUR troops with placards calling for beheadings of the evil west, and burning OUR flag, but when it comes to ANYTHING taking the pee out of them, they cant accept it, and treat it as a declaration of war almost.

Its actually gone past being funny now, its just pathetic and irritating.

If I was an American General, I would have pressed the nuke button on the middle east by now.

Problem solved.
