KTM has confirmed that the first motorcycle under the new 500cc platform is planned to be launched in 2022. It is likely that the brand will first launch the KTM 490 Duke, followed by the KTM 490 Adventure and then, the KTM RC 490. Powering the faired supersport will be a 500cc parallel twin liquid-cooled engine.

Someone needs to bring a 60-65hp and sub 150kg bike to market.

Isn't the EXC450 already a sub 150kg 60-65hp bike or pretty close? The 500 EXC has been converted by some for ADV use but it is down on power.

A 500 IL2 will likely make similar power but for the ADV market it will probably be 175kg.

Personally I don't see it coming at all this year. The 890 has had zero changes this year. Some Powerparts can't be delivered until September. I reckon the supply chain issues will limit this to perhaps a Duke in 2023 and an Adventure by 2024.

EDIT: corrections
