KVM CAT5-USB cables

I hav a Dell KVM switch and screen/keyboard. I tried using in an old HP CAT5 - USB cable but it does not seem to detect anything. Do I ned a specific one for the KVM like this: http://accessories.euro.dell.com/sn...e_bnrank=0&baynote_irrank=0&~ck=baynoteSearch

any RJ45 to USB/VGA should work - have you ruled out a borked KVM?

I think the Dell KVMs are rebadged Avocent, so if you're trying to grab stuff off eBay then try them.

The little adapters that break the RJ45 connection back out to VGA and USB go pop all the time.
