Only that at the moment, but there seems to be a few sources reporting that this is a "priority for Valve" and is scheduled for release in 2017.

Not quite sure I'd trust the Daily Express of all sources for solid Valve related news (or any news) but they seem to want to stake the farm on it being true.

The last game in the series came out back in 2009, but it is believed that the latest title has been given a 2017 release date.

Yeah a lot of people were actually kicking off with the sequel as it came out just over a year from the original from what I remember.

The addition of vs mode in L4D2 made it great for me - spent so much more time on it than the original.

But the original L4D did have VS mode, in fact it was one of the big selling points...

Do you mean something else? Maybe Survival? (though that was added to L4D1 in a patch long before L4D2 came out)

I'll take these articles with a large pinch of salt personally, L4D3 has been had rumours floating around before, but we all know that Valve do not like counting to 3.
