Really need a lamp for my desk, as the top light is too bright and shows a shadow of my hand when I write.

Found this on a popular auction site :)

These 3M Polarizing Task Lights:

* Provide light that's low in glare.
* Reduce reflective and veiling glare by up to 80%
* Deliver a broad area of uniform, low-glare light
* Adjustable arm flexes in height for optional positioning

Is it worth the £8 + £5 postage? Can anyone recommend a decent desk lamp?

I can't give you lamp recommendations, but I just thought I'd let you know that you can purchase that lamp direct from 3M for £9.99 plus £4.95 postage if you fancy the extra peace of mind :)

I'm looking for a lamp as well. I got one from a bargain bin in town. The trouble is, while it's great for reading (it's a desk lamp), it's too harsh to be used as a general room lamp. I shall have to investigate..
