I have a new laptop with I7 8750h and GTX 1060 6gb. The laptop has a 1920 x 1080 screen and I have an external monitor with 2560 x 1440 resolution but the max resolution I can get it to work at is 2048 x 1152 and the picture is very clear/ text is crisp but resolution is lower than it should be. Laptop has a HMDI output, but the monitor is older and its HDMi port only supports 1920 x 1080 so I got a DVI to HDMI adaptor thinking it would work, but it limits to 2048 x 1152. Wonder why this is?
Also, when using external display the GTX1060 does not downclock I can see in afterburner the GPU idle temp is 10c hotter than when using laptops own monitor., is this normal?
