Hi guys,

I'm fairly new to AV home audio but recently upgraded to a Yamaha 1010 AV box with some monitor audio BX2 speakers.

TV is a Sony EX723.

Now, I want a storage device which I can save my audio/video files to and control it from my setee via either my Android phone or through the DLNA screen on the Yamaha or with a laptop with wireless mouse.

Currently I have a LG blu-ray player with a USB SATA HDD connected to it - works perfectly but I want to get rid of the Blu-ray player.

I'm thinking a laptop via HDMI will give me the video/sound quality of my current blu-ray player wit the benefit of having internet on my TV - all controllable via a wireless mouse.

Only thing is - what spec of graphics do I need for full quality HDMI in 1080p with sound? Also, will HDMI carry full DTS sound or just stereo sound?

Cheers

You need a Media Player ;)

Look at any of the following:

Western Digital - WDTV Live / WD Elements Play / WDTV Live Hub

Playon - By AC Ryan - They do models with and without hard drives...

Asus O'Play

Popcorn Hour

Noontec

...all of these will connect straight to your TV with HDMI and play in 1080p and decode DTS
