Man of Honour
Oh the pain:
A good example of UK Larp is Labyrinthe, the group has been active for a long time and rent out part of Chislehurst Caves. Some of my friends used used to go there when they were in their teens, around 15-20 years ago. As a previous poster said it may be geeky, but it is the same as paintball or any other group activity event. Besides if I had a teenage child I would consider this infinitely preferable than if they were playing WoW all weekend or hanging out on the streets with the number of chavs around these days.
You may try to convince yourself that its the same as paintball so you don't feel like such a loser but come on man who are you kidding... seriously?
What's the difference? One is playing fantasy, one is playing soldiers...
And no, I don't larp, never really been my thing. But not sure why one set of make believe is any better than another.

Paintball requires actual skill though, in terms of shooting. How does LARP fighting work? Either you beat people into submission with your colossal foam sword (I doubt this) or you stop and roll dice to see who wins. AWESOME.
Also, I don't think many paintballers go to the same lengths with costumes and lore and all the rest of it. It's a bit more rough and ready.
Role Models?
Seriously i just dont see how this is even an argument,
