Last day at work.....What to do...

Option 2.

In fact I wouldn't email a goodbye at all. Just pack up your things and leave. Those you socialise with or regard as friends will already know you are leaving (or should) and that way there is no offence to anyone or to any future reference you may need.

What did you do? Why do you need to read a legal statement 50 times a day. That would drive me batty.

I work in a huge call centre. Related to insurance claims

First of all, suggest that the script you read is automated and the customers are transferred to the message at the end of the call. This will lower avht and make managers happy :p

Well i got this totally wrong LOL. I thought it would be flame flame flame.

I wanted to grass people up as well.

For Example ;)

John ******

I think its great you make us cups of tea at the weekend, the little touches you do also make it extra special. Like a slice of cake with the tea. But don't you think spitting in the managers tea, is a bit harsh just because he reminds you every time he likes his tea strong?

Causing trouble like that is wrong. If you have any aspirations of running a business successfully I'd suggest you stop thinking things like that.

I'd hate to work for you if you're being that petty. Just leave on good terms.

Half the people telling you to flame will probably not have had a job before. Stay professional and retain your dignity, your next employers will expect a reference.

I generally try to follow the rule of 'Don't be a nob' where possible, this seems to fit nicely here too.

I am quite disgusted by the amount of reasonable response to this thread :(

Not even a suggestion to cover the table of your least favourite with plastic cups, staple them all together and fill them up with water!

I guess you have to meet these people i work with. They are so far up my managers **** its untrue, yet they do horrible things!

I may be a work "hero" for around 5 mins, but after that i would be "that idiot"

Shame, i would have loved to have opened the can of worms on affairs too. Theres two people who are so smug about it, id love to share that !

We all work with ******** tbh. Every company has people who don't like others. That's life.
How you deal with it says more about you than it does about them.

Not heard of the stapled cups idea before! Like it :)

I like that comment the best. So sneaky stink bombs and some cups

There is about a million different ways to loose it tho. Just a few examples. You sound like my boss lol

They are using this to drive improvements in what they consider key areas.

How do they stop people taking the mick and taking 20 minute breaks instead of 10 ? punish them by making people lose their bonus. Everybody is then **** scared and takes less break time. For the idiot bean counters that see everthing in terms of minutes lost or gained, this is a massive improvement. The fact you would have been scratching your bum not doing any work in that missed minute of yours and not doing any work is of no consequence to them. To them its 1 minute gained which looks good on paper !

what a shocker. All call centres are the same. In fact some are worse.

Do you have to put your hand up like a child before you are allowed to leave your desk ? do you have to share a key to the toilet which must be returned before the next person can go to the toilet ? is only one person actually allowed to walk around and gets to wear a nice sash that says "floor walker" on it ?

Then your not being treated as badly as some call centres. Loosing your bonus for 1 minute late is normal in these places.

They want to cut down on "time wasting" yes its pointless but these people see everything in numbers. They're like neo in the matrix and all they can see is how many minutes are lost in the working day due to people overstaying their breaks. So they make you all **** scared to lose your bonus. They could introduce a limit that says its fine if your minute late. But what about the bloke who is 1 minute and 10 seconds late ? he feels hard done by too. Why cant it be 1 minute 30 ?? etc.. you have to draw the line somewhere, and what fairer place to draw it than at 15:00 precisely (as an example) the length of time your supposed to take a break.

Yes its harsh, but all call centres are the same, some are even worse (see above).

Nope I am going to work for my dad and in 5 years take over and run it. As he wants to retire :D

How about you just stop working for them? My friend just stopped showing up one day, didn't even hand in a notice. The company had to pay dearly for the deficiencies caused by his sudden departure.

Why should any company who treat their workers like scrap be afforded any decent goodbyes? Just go, you've done your lot with them and they certainly don't care about you at all.

Most employers also expect their workers to have a rudimentary degree of reading comprehension.
