** LATEST GIGABYTE LAPTOPS NOW AVAILABLE FROM OcUK INCLUDING P35K / P34G!! **

Yep I'm fuming.
There is no Nvidia card in this laptop!

Just tried a manual install of the Nvidia drivers and it says no suitable Graphics card.
I received this laptop with the seal broken and a note saying it had been checked for damages, either someone has stolen my card or there was never one put in!

OCUK I am livid right now!

My guess would be that the graphics card is in there but was maybe damaged during transit and therefore doesn't work. That's my guess anyway. Don't see how they would miss it out completely.

The card is soldered onto the mobo so it not being put in is impossible.

Check bios to see if it's been disabled.

Failing that try a restore from rescue disk.

Failing that contact support

These laptops have been a bit of a PR nightmare for gigabyte and i have just bought a p25 so my son will stop stealing my pc to play minecraft fingers crossed all is ok

I know this is well over specced for a 7 yr old to play minecraft but he is obsessed with yellow
need To make more space on table as his brother and sister still have their msi ge60's from last christmas

Mmm, want a P25w too - really would like one with a BD burner, mind, and seems this is hard to get!
TBH, the master plan is to replace my desktop completely, and the P25w checks all boxes apart from the optical drive - I know I could get an external, but seeing as there is a variant with the burner, I think I'll just have to wait :(

p25w has 2 but 1 is used for 128gb drive i have just received one this morning only had a quick look just too make sure all was ok after reading other posts here

arrived in perfect condition not a single mark or crease on the box im sure my son will be very happy come christmas day

i have not had a proper look but i'm guessing remove back cover need to check warranty to see if that is allowed or failing that you could try msg some one in customer service section they should know

You bought a Gigabyte P25 for a 7 year old to play Minecraft, just because of the yellow colour? Surely you must be kidding.

nope im not kidding he is autistic and any price to make his stress filled days a little better is money well invested. you can see in pics of stuff i recently bought its sat in the box next to his brother and sisters msi laptops from last christmas.

on a unrelated note had another little play with it and the wifi is useless so need to see what i can do about that, it is losing connection all the time and given he also likes to relax watching trains on youtube this needs to be fixed

With regards to the wifi i don't suppose you updated it to Windows 8.1? Because since upgrading my P35K to 8.1 my wifi has been screwing up really bad. Disconnecting a lot etc.

sadly not it just seems that either its a poor wifi card or something is up with them seems to be a number of people with similar issues with some luck i can just get new card and change it without killing warranty im waiting to see what they say in CS section

gigabyte website has some beta drivers for win 8.1 Intel Centrino Wireless-2230 if the p35k has same wifi card might be worth a try

my wifi card refused to come back up from sleep and some times failed on cold boot, pulled all the drivers off and uninstalled the manager thing and downloaded the beta drivers and clean installed and fingers crossed it continues to be fine, but it was flakey to begin with. Intel need to fix it soon :D

Try doing an EC reset, normally you need to unplug it from the mains and remove the battery then hold down the power button for 20 secs then put the battery back in and fire it back up, good luck.

I don't see how his autism is related to this. You could have bought a laptop half the price and painted the lid yellow with the same effect. Instead you bought a massively overspecced and overpowered laptop for a 7 year old child who has only a limited concept of how to use it.

It's your hard-earned money and you are free to do with it whatever you will, but lets not pretend that buying very young children (regardless of their mental state) expensive and overpowered laptops that they have no real appreciation for is anything but grossly excessive. :)

Why does it concern you so much Rich? The guy can buy what he wants for his kid. Chances are he wanted something that would last a good few years.

If i had bought an 8 pack system i would agree with you but £1200 on a very well specced laptop for gaming that will last a good 3/4 years i think is fine his age has little to do with it and i know he will look after it.
He is more than capable of playing games and that is what it is made for.

Also why would i take a brand new laptop and paint it yellow i like having a warranty intact just incase something does go wrong.

Wifi update tried to set laptop up right next to the router see if just maybe was an issue with it but still drops out every 5-10mins once kids all in bed might get it back out and have a go at upgrading to win 8.1 and test beta drivers out for the wifi
