Latest model Laguna... still to be avoided?

I've owned a 2006 Laguna for about 3 years now. Apart from the standard wear and tear (changing tyres, oil etc) NOTHING has gone wrong with it. It's at 115k miles now.

A friend has a previous model 1.9dci, he does mega mileage in it. Whilst it isn't the last word in reliability, for the price it is excellent. It's had a turbo, couple of front wishbones, track rod end, numerous rear subframe bushes. I don't think it's unreasonable considering the mileage it does, and you can pick them up for nothing with really high spec.

I think that the coupe looks great and the hatch looks acceptable tbh. Problem is that if they aren't reliable then it is going to drive me mad. Then again... my Octavia has been by far my least reliable car and they are normally held in high regard.

How about Vectras? I know they aren't as good to drive as the mondeo but they are much cheaper and the local taxi companies seem to love them so I don't get the impression that they break down every two minutes?

Just trying to get an idea of this type of car and what various budgets can buy as I have a wedding and honeymoon between now and setting a budget :p

My dads had the mk1 and has a 2007 mk2. They seem to enjoy eating coil packs and his newer one seems to eat the rear beam bushes in 40k miles and has had a few different suspension things replaced last month for the MOT at 48k.

Indeed Phil, a taxi driver I know just keeps buying them. He has two avensis right now!
