Hey guys, just a quick question. Can anyone here speak fluent Latin?

Reason i ask is im shooting a short in Glasgow in the coming weeks and require a VO artist that speaks latin. This is proving extremely difficult.

Now if someone on here could speak latin i could really use a consultant type figure.

Thanks Guys, Scott

I didn't think anyone spoke Latin nowadays? It's a dead language, although the written form can help to make sense of verb constructions and such, particularly in French and German.

Thing is even when you are learning Latin you don't learn to speak it like you do modern languages, you learn stories about slaves and weird roman families, so I think you will probably struggle tbph.

There are plenty of people about who can speak it.

Get in touch with a classics department at a university, that'll probably be your best bet at recruiting someone available. Two of my friends are at cambridge doing just that at the moment.

They teach latin at st aloysius college in glasgow. You could try seeing what teachers there are and maybe one will be interested in what your doing.

Long shot though.

Nobody will understand what it means anyway, so just bribe a Weegie with a bottle of Buckie, chuck him the script and the job's a good 'un.

;)

Latin is a dead language and isn't spoken. I was taught Latin at school and Uni, but never as a vernacular language, best bet is to get the translation and learn it by rote.

Ask Dolph. He sometimes uses Latin phrases in his posts usually to cause misdirection during a discussion in which the point he is trying to make is somewhat opaque.

Thank you very much guys for the awesome replies.

Thanks especially for this. I will contact them on monday.

Ah, if you asked me 7 years ago, I could have done it , I studied it for 5 years - Latin teacher insisted the spoken way should be remembered as well as the written.

Then again, he was also against the TV and had never owned one..
