Last lava lamp I had was sat on my desk and the neighbours were doing some home improvements.
Came home to find the vibrations had knocked the lamp off the desk, onto it's on/off switch and landed in my pile of laundry.
Thing had gotten so hot it exploded and looked like something from a horror scene. Red wax over the ceiling, walls, all my clothes...
So, just stick it in a pile of clothes and you'll find it warms up pretty quick!
