Quick one, we have fleet insurance on our vehicle fleet that included tools on the vans, last week one was broken into and tools stolen, called the insurance company and they say tools aren't covered any more as they changed their terms/etc. They never told us about this change last time we renewed the policy, do we have any ground to stand on legally if we want to fight them?

They would have had to sent you something in writing at some point to a change of conditions. When you renewed did you not get the booklet come that has the terms and conditions?

Change in policy would be in the new t&c when renewing.
If it's not mentioned then you may have a fight. If not it's your fault for assuming everything is the same. Only time they have to tell you of a change is during a current policy.

Happy to be corrected wrong.

What may also make this more difficult is that it is a business to business contract - whilst consumers have a good level of protection from unfair contracts as well as changes and variations to contracts, businesses typically do not.

While this is true, there would have been documentation sent about the renewal including a book with the t&c's in it.
