LCD screen burn?

Can LCD televisions get screen burn? I never thought so, but my samsung manual for the r87 says that screen burn can occur if an image is left on screen too long.

My problem is that I'm using a net browser and PC a lot, so the blue title bars for windows are at the top of my screen for hours at a time, will this be an issue for me?

I am happy i am not the only person who was having the problems , ive had 3 R87 series with this nightmare and sent them back to samsung, my problems was when booting PS3 it was leave marks on a black back ground , or playing PS3 and then going to a back to a black screen , still seeing the game image left on the screen

I now have the R74 , now no problems

hmmm that's worrying, I haven't noticed any yet though, just read in the manual that it could occur.

Do you know what panel your r87 had, did the serial say C or S at the end can you remember?

Mine's an S panel S-PVA i assume.

Yeah it does happed on LCD's unfortunately, I use my Samsung as a PC monitor. Just make sure you use a screensaver, I've used mine for 6 months and not had a problem yet. I think it probably takes a while for it to occur.

I use my samsung 26" R87 as a second monitor & havent had it occur.
Mine is also the S-PVA panel

Yep - I'd like to add further confirmation. We use a 32" LCD TV which displays network status and all the node icons have left a persistent impression on the screen!
D'oh! We deliberatley avoided plasma because of this!

I have heard its not perminent (hence 'persistence') and that it can be reduced or even removed completely by leaving a white screen on for a period of time? Not tried it though.
