Le Mans 2019

Strange selection of car to carry the trophy, even stranger idea behind Aston’s BoP. They went for it while the rest didn’t, now they’re at the back.

Some cracking racing though.

Had to nip out for a bit. Now about to settle in with a kebab and some beers, got a puncture to fix and a bike to build during the night. Espresso machine is on and got plenty of beans ground. See if I can manage a late one :D

They really shouldn't make any BoP changes once the weekend starts. The Astons are now suffering at the back of GTE Pro because everyone else sandbagged. Just make them run what they brung. If you're slow, tough ****. You had all season to get your car right.

Ford played the same game, but the other way, and won in 2016 because of it.

Listening to TK and looking at the numbers/first hour of the day it isn't necessarily all the bop causing issues. Bear in mind the Aston was leading for the first 30 or so minutes and the fastest lap between the one in 15th and no1 Porsche is 0.1 sec, the stint tells a different story though as after 8 or 9 laps they start to fall away, so potentially through the night and the cooler temps they could start to reel people back in as they may be able to have stronger more consistent stints.

That was a mad 10 mins! That pass in Porsche curves was immense then to drop it in what looked a relatively dry area. That repair speed was ridiculous. Did think when they went in it didn't look too bad to the main structure. Especially when it's all just bolt on. Next few hours are going to be interesting if the weather stays intermittent.

Hoshino too spooked to continue and they've retired :(

On a lighter note - can't believe how different Arnage looks these days. It used to be a 1st gear right angle with a house on the corner, pitch black at night. Even these pics I took in 2014 are really different.
