Hi,

I have just got this TV (LE32R74BD) and its great, but i need some help.

I can run my XBOX360 through it using component fine, everything is ok.

But when i go to use VGA (which i prefer the looks), i cannot get any sound at all. The cable comes from the back of the XBOX and into a VGA at the end + 2 phono leads (red and white).

I have tried the phono leads in all red and white ports on the back and side of my TV but none of them work.
Is there a setup option in the menu i need to change ?
Any help is very appreciated.

Ryan

No nothing you need to change in the xbox side of things assuming you had it set to stereo before and not 5.1. So it's either your telly settings, the cable or the port on your telly.

Make sure that Internal Mute isn't enabled on your TV. It's not generally enabled by default but this essentially switches of your TV's speakers so your best to check this setting in the menu.

i might be completely wrong but i have a feeling you have to plug it into the jack plug next to the VGA port. The two phonos slots are for audio out. The jack plud hole is black so quite hard to see if you trying to reach round the back of it.

I ran the phono leads to a phono->3.5mm jack and it worked ok, but to test i had to hold the 4 phono lead together (2 + 2). So all i need is two phono to phono adapters.

I am currently back onto Component and this time i remembered to switch the little box to HD instead of TV and its much better.

Is a VGA cable really worth using instead of Component ? Can anyone tell me the reasons why people do it ?

Thanks for the previous comment, helped me find the solution straight away.

VGA - sharper picture qulity , less coulour and contrast

component - better colour and greatly increast contrast, with slightly less sharpness

EDIT: also people like to use there 360's on computer monitors thats another reasen for using VGA

i have that exact same setup by the way, it rocks, i have 5.1 surround sound for the sound and just use headphones when the moon shows up, the tv is great and so is the sound but the sound can be a lot better, panasonic beats it in that department

Thanks for the info.

Yer the TV does rock, even only for looks.
I have uploaded some pics of it HERE

I also use some headphones for late times, i use some HD555 which are pretty decent for my use.
