*** League of Legends ***

Sorry maybe i should have explained a bit clearer.
When i get this frame rate drop(Usually at the start of a teamfight) i get a lag spike for like half a second. Then it settles back to normal. But that half a second can be killer as skill shots and skill defenses are useless.
So last few games ive either gone in and hoped for the best or sat back let the lag hit then go in but that half second makes the difference.
Ive not had this issue in any other patch or changed my hardware at all.I hope it was just a bad couple of days for me on the servers.

The servers do get lag spikes but if they spike all players will get the same spike so a quick check will highlight if that is the issue.

The reason I have seen lag spikes on my machine is either an overly agressive av that wants to keep checking files (kapersky) or an application running on the machine that is hitting the drive as well. When your machine is not in use it should be idle so a check in performance will highlight a rogue app. Turn the av off and test wil highlight an av issue

My FPS in never over 30ish...

Also, you know the human eye can only actually see 30FPS right? Having 60 makes no noticeable difference except in that little part of your brain that tells you it's better. I mean if it's fluctuating all the time, then sure, but if it's a steady 30,45,60,120 your eye can't actually tell the difference :)

Erm I think thats BS. Its closer to 50fps.

Cant find anything rogue but used the time to get rid of some old programs and a good defrag so see how it goes next few games.

I remember learning it was 30fps, but you could be right. It was quite a whiles ago.

And to all the people talking about game performance, that isn't what I was talking about now was it. I was merely stating the fact that the human eye can't render more then 30 frames per second :D

Here, this might help a bit

The human brain does have a limit to how many frames it can process per second visually. That's why when they first came out with film, they agreed on 24 frames per second which wasn't quite good enough. Then 30 was accepted. What the FPS players are getting confused over is that the internal game engine speed will naturally be higher on a computer that gets 60fps in comparison to one that gets 30 in the same benchmark.

Internal object movement in the game is also more fluid. (Unless the developer has locked certain aspects of game play to some rate) There are more points in between to see things when you are turning around too. If there are fps dips, your character spins better as well. However, when something is truly being displayed at an even, locked frame rate, 90 fps won't look any smoother or better than 30 or 40. In many games there are spikes and dips in the fps, so when a gamer says he's got 90 fps, he's over simplifying. Really he's got, 90, 22, 18, 107, 67, 23 and so on. This changes depending on the view angle, how many polygons are being rendered and so on. Just looking at the floor can raise the fps to over 100. Looking out at the distance and it may dip to 20. So a person with a better card and computer will have less problems, but it's not because their eyes are appreciating over 100 fps. When they go to benchmark, they may get an over all benchmark higher than someone else. It may say they are getting 120fps, while someone else gets 50. So their rig will play the game better if that particular game tends to have low dips in fps here and there. But that's only because the fast system did better on the slow to render parts and not because the fast system was getting a higher fps at those points. In a game where the scenery is fairly well balanced, the frame rate is consistent due to good game design, it will tend to draw more evenly and these factors tend to go away.

Also Arknor, I'm quite fed up with you trying to troll this thread. I'm stating a simple medical fact, I suggest you at least research a bit before you try insulting someone again, or it will continue biting you in the ass.

Does anyone know how much a full set of runes will cost? I'm getting closer to 20 and have far not got any runes as I was waiting for the tier 3 ones to be unlocked, and I've been saving money but would like to buy another champ but will hold off if I still need more to get a nice set of good runes.

probably in the region of 6000-10000 IP for a full set, well worth it though as they make a massive difference. its probably best that you stick to a similar set of champs who can share the same runes when you first start out

I've got 7k IP and I'm level 11. Saving all my IP for when I hit 20. I'll rather spend RP than Ip on new champs. Loving Vayne, doing ok as her. Have some games where I'll get 10-15 kills and 0 deaths, other games where I'll be like 15/10/X but I enjoy her getting better at early game harrasment.

Man, I'm constantly losing as Akali even though I'm doing well myself. Last game I went 36-7-6 and we still lost. Is it because Akali can't really carry games? Or am I getting unlucky with team mates? (I'm only like summoner level 14)

why because your still wrong? 30fps is likle the minimum to trick your brain into thinking something is moving smoothly, the 30fps BS comes from CRT TV's and how they blend the frames together where as a computer monitor at the time would reload a whole new frame every second which caused any monitors set below 85hz to give a lot of people headaches because you could still detect the flicker.

you needed over a 100hz refresh rate for the picture to seem completely solid.

thjeres a huge difference between how many fps you can see and how many it takes for animiation to apear smooth

akali can easily carry... it is because you and your team dont know how take advantage of being fed.

basically, your teams mistake (as its the same in all low level games) is that you are not making use of your lead. what you do after a team fight is crucial as you have a gap where they are totally defenceless. you should spent this time taking as many of their towers as possibly before they come back. another option is to take baron, dragon or their buffs too.

once you have pushed an inhibitor, you will have more freedom and map control as they are forced to defend.. this often leads to free barons or more towers.

remember that taking the nexus down is the goal to winning, not getting a big score.

also remember that akali is an assassin, and excels at taking out single targets.. you should concentrate on taking out their highest damager dealers

Indeed, that's what I was doing. I was constantly focusing their fed Veigar (who kept stunning and hitting for 1000s of damage) and Miss Fortune. But I was the main damage dealer on our team, I constantly got 2-3 kills in team fights then had to recall so I lost a lot of time. We couldn't really push, it just seemed like we had a lack of minions to actually push lanes. Eventually we just got ran over by super minions. It was actually pretty funny, at the end there was like 15 super creeps in our base.

So... It turns out AP Alistar is OP now :D

Hooray for multiple mastery pages. (though not a HUGE deal it is a nice change)

I've just bought Irelia and now she's been nerfed a little :(
