no more X38, Intel is going to stop shipping it, so will go straight up to X48!
this picture is almost close to the retail product, but there will be better switches, LEDs, copper heatpipe, Dual BIOS, etc...just BETTER!!

It looks like 2008 is the year that Gigabtye, asus and abit get some serious competition from the Chinese OEM factories starting to make RETAIL boards. I think the top tier producers will have to seriously reconsider the very high prices for mobos. If that X38 boar comes available for £100-110 with decent bios support it looks a real winner.

Kenofstephen are you working for the J&W or are working for one of their Chinese distributors? Keep in touch, I think the big boys need a reality check over their extreme prices for extreme motherboards.

J&W should work on improved chipset cooling though, as all the boards they've released so far have pretty generic ones that do little to keep them as cool as the better-known brands.

Possibly under £100 you say... :)

black PCB is a must. :)
turning that blue IDE port to 90 degree is a very good idea.
have you got any chipset cooling designs yet? No crazy heatpipes I hope.

Was gonna say X38 boards are still very pricey was expecting at least £30-40 being knocked off once more stock/competition came to market most ive seen is a tenner off the Asus board ;)

£100 is gonna allow a lot more people to get it and enjoy 2x x16 slots, crossfires scalability will hopefully enjoy the extra bandwith over the p35 boards too.

there is a reason it is £100, compare it to the gigabyte x38 dq6 and the board above is sparsely populated in comparison - not as many chokes, and i bet the voltage regulation/smoothing is not as good. there also seems to be a lack of fan connectors on the board, where as the x38 dq6 is awash with monitored fan connectors

You don't get too many black PCB ATi gfx cards but you do get a lot of red PCB ATi cards.
Keeping a red PCB for Crossfire mobos makes sense if you are trying to get an overall colour theme.

Need to see the chipset/PWM cooling & I must admit that I prefer mobos with socketed BIOS chips (I know that with dual BIOS etc. you shouldn't need to replace 1 but it's obvious from this forum & others that recovery doesn't always work as it should).

Pretty silly place to put the diagnostic led tho - looks inline with pcie?

Yep, that'll be covered by pretty much any modern, mid-range and upwards graphics card I would have thought. Still, it's an engineering sample so maybe the boffins have time to wake up, smell the coffee, and change it!

unfortunately...it will be whole copper heatpipe cooling by AVC, what's wrong?

this is NOT the reason.
