Leaked: A X38 DDR2 mobo possibly under £100 (inc VAT)

No not too slow....just insane settings. Crazy high voltage, high frequency, and slack timings.

My ballistix do 1178mhz @ 5,5,4,13 2.2v ....so all that extra voltage and slack timings for another 155mhz seems a bit pointless to me.

I think he was just showing that the board would support 1333MHz DDR2 RAM, such as the new GeIL Titanium stuff. I think it's fairly amazing that the board will even boot at 1333MHz.

Yes, at the end I didn't want to kill the Ballistix, there was no fan on them, and high voltages...
so I turned it off after taking some photos. ;););)

Thats true, quality testing has to come first, does the change of chipset mean the testing phase is now restarting from scratch? the release of this board is the last thing I need before ordering my new computer. I'll keep waiting.

I'll keep waiting.

Gigabyte X38-DS4 is only £130 and it's a very good board that's been available for a while. The DFI board is also excellent, but fractionally more. Given how high the price is on the ASUS X48 board (£250), I don't see any chance at all that OcUK will be able to retail the X48 J&W for £100, or possibly even £150.

It's the fact I've had problems with gigabyte before, DFI haven't been able to see half their products available in the UK and generally good things have been coming from J&W. However a X38 DFI is definitely on the cards.

I've just ordered an X48 DDR2 DFI for £165+delivery. You really can't say fairer than that, I reckon. My X38-DS4 has been absolutely rock solid, although it's really not that much quicker than any of my P35 boards. My X38 DFI was a bit ropey, so that wen't back to the dealer.

As someone looking to buy an X38 board is there a technical reason why you have decided against it or purely commercial reasons ??.

ALL x38 boards are now eol. the chipset is no more, so any mobo's based on the chipset will be running out of supply soon. (i did want the DFI X38 LT but cant get it now:/ so its JW X48, or DFI LT for £165!
